Description
This spectacular 3 day horseback adventure takes you to some of our favourite parts of the beautiful departamento of Risaralda. You will ride from the “green capital of Colombia” – Marsella, and up into the Colombian Andes, an area rich in wildlife. Pass coffee farms and endless breathtaking views and enjoy nights around camp fires, under starlit skies.
The trail covers over 50 miles in 3 days, during which you will be immersed in Colombian culture. You’ll experience the exhilaration and freedom of riding in these awe inspiring mountains. Suitable for those who are confident cantering and have a sense of adventure, see the Colombian Andes the best possible way – on horseback! Our trails have been created using the knowledge of local guides to take you to the most unspoilt and untrodden parts.
Your holiday starts with coffee in the charming town of Marsella. From here you will begin your Colombian trail riding experience: 3 days on horseback, spending your evenings at truly memorable accommodation. Enjoy stunning scenery by day and the most spectacular sunsets at nightfall. All luggage will be transported between overnight stops for you.
An unforgettable experience
The 50 mile trail takes you through traditional vibrant towns where you’ll receive the warmest of welcomes. Tie up and enjoy a coffee in the town square alongside your horse before heading on to enjoy open trails and endless views. This trail makes the most of what the area has to offer, a world heritage site made for horseback travel. Over the course of the three days you and your horse will ride through breathtaking scenery and stay overnight in spectacular settings: luxurious converted coffee farms and traditional haciendas. A Colombian adventure awaits!
Accommodation
Throughout your trip, you’ll stay in a combination of comfortable guesthouses, luxury farm houses or haciendas all hand picked by us.
Food and drink
All meals and drinks are included in the cost of your trail. This includes breakfast, lunch, evening meal, refreshments and drinks in the evening. Dietary requirements will be catered for and noted at point of booking.
Itinerary
Day 1
Your 3 day adventure starts in the picturesque town of Marsella. We will meet for coffee in the historic town centre before heading out on trail as we circle the Green Capital of Colombia. Enjoy your first taste of true trail riding, before arriving at your first night’s accommodation, a charming traditional hacienda.
Day 2
Your horse will be groomed and tacked up for you, but feel free to join in and help. We’ll be out on trail all day, a spectacular day’s riding, taking you to the most northern tip of Risaralda. Take in the endless views as you climb your way through the Andes, ending your day at a traditional coffee farm with over 200 years of production history.
Day 3
Your horse will be groomed and tacked up for you, but feel free to join in and help. Today we make our way back to Marsella. A full day’s ride through an area steeped in history, once home to the Quimbaya, you’ll see petroglyphs dating back thousands of years. This area due to its protected status is renowned for its abundant birdlife.
